Rose Marie Wanchupela, founder of Easan and Easan Fabrique, is a native of Pennsylvania where she first fell in love with fine fabrics through the influence of her mother Elizabeth, and grandmother Lula, who were enthralled with the splendid finery of the New York fashion houses. She became a native daughter of Northeast Thailand after marrying her husband, Prinya, whose mother, Sommai, was a renowned fabric designer in her local area. She stimulated Rose Marie\’s interest in handwoven textiles and supported her in beginning her own fabric business in 1985.

Easan was established to fulfill her desire to create works of art in textiles and to provide a creative outlet and source of income for Thai weavers. In Northeast Thailand, vast numbers of women are superbly skilled at designing and weaving textiles in both cotton and silk.
